The Potential Pitfalls of Positive Thinking
Certain aspects of positive thinking and the Law of Attraction are rock solid; you want to focus on a desired outcome, have reminders of said desired outcome, take action to achieve that desired outcome, and stick with it until you reach that desired outcome.
What happens is what you begin to focus on more typically, the more you wire your subconscious mind to find ways to bring what you focus on into reality.
Unfortunately, Positive Thinking, when taken to the extreme, can be excessively damaging to many aspects your life.
There are a few instances where positive thinking takes a turn for the nonsensical. Here are a few examples I've seen in my own life:.
1. Pretending problems simply don't exist.
I remember hearing that what you think about you attract, so I actually had a fear of even acknowledging these problems existed, no matter how in my face they were, out of fear of making them even bigger. As time went on the feeling of anger and depression only got stronger over time the more I tried to push them out of my awareness.
Positive thinking must be about focusing on what you want, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the reality of what is going on around you, whether good or bad. If you have problems in your life, you need to acknowledge them before you can fix them. Neglecting them won't make them go away.
2. Believing that your problems will magically be taken care of at the last second (AKA living on a prayer, LITERALLY).
I have heard of friends of friends who had bills come up when their bank accounts are completely empty. Instead of doing any action to change that, they would say that the money would magically show up somehow.
I don't know if there was any money that was set up to come into that account, but it still kinda shook me up that people would leave such crucial stuff to chance like that.
It's easy to see how this could blow up in your face. Don't do it.
3. Beating yourself up over any negative thoughts that enter your mind, which make them worse.
I still remember when the movie "The Secret" first came out (before it got picked up by the legendary Oprah media equipment). One of the major things that was taught was that what you think of, consciously or SUBconsciously, you attract.
And, if you're human, bad thoughts and negative emotions tend to hit you every now and then.
Now, what tends to happen, despite our best efforts, is we end up feeling guilty or overreact to those negative feelings, having them grow to even larger negative emotions (getting bigger as we try to block them out), causing us to focus more on that negative emotion, and on and on and on ... as it pushes people into a vicious downward spiral.
What Needs To Happen To Make The Law of Attraction REALLY WORK.
Belief is very important, but in the end nothing happens without taking direct action to make it happen. The larger the miracle, the more action (and maybe even more people) that will be needed for that desired outcome to take place.
You want to focus on a desired outcome, have reminders of said desired outcome, take action to achieve that desired outcome, and stick with it until you reach that desired outcome.
Again, bad thoughts happen every now and then, and it's okay as long as you don't STAY focused on it. Acknowledge these problems exist, direct your focus on a specific situation you want to be in where that problem is fixed, and take enormous action until you reach your desired outcome.
P.S. After you acknowledge the problems you want to face and what you need to focus on to take care of these problems, you still need a solid vehicle and an accurate roadmap to do what you set out to accomplish. Go here for a clear vehicle and exact roadmap on the best ways to reach your desired outcomes.
